Meet the artisan
Martha Llaquiche
A master artisan from the Tigua highlands, Martha has dedicated her life to traditional Andean weaving and the celebrated Tigua painting style. She preserves techniques passed down through generations, creating textiles and paintings that carry the stories of heritage, craftsmanship, and cultural pride.
"Ñukanchik kulturapi alli sonqoypi kashkani; rikuchiyta munani mundoman."(Kichwa) "I am proud of our culture; I want to show it to the world."
Every fiber tells a story.
This close-up reveals the rich texture of lana — wool sourced from the Ecuadorian highlands, known for its warmth, softness, and lasting durability.
Woven with ancestral techniques, each thread carries Ecuador’s past and present — a testament to craftsmanship that is natural, breathable, and built to endure.
